This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose, and protect personal information when you use our website, LMS platform, and educational services—including Grade 1–12 core academic tutoring and competitive exam preparation programs (AMC, MATHCOUNTS, SAT, PSAT, ACT, AP, Science Olympiad, USACO, and State Tests).
By accessing our website, enrolling in our programs, or using our services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. WHO WE ARE
Skillzy Young Scholars is an online educational platform providing live learning programs, school curriculum support, and competitive exam preparation for students from Grade 1 through Grade 12. We are the operator of this website and the controller of the information described below.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect information directly from parents, guardians, or authorized representatives when they book a demo or enroll, and from students while we provide our services:
- Demo Booking and Enquiry Information: Parent name, child's name, email address, phone number, grade, subjects or exams of interest, preferred class time, and any message you choose to send us through our demo form.
- Parent/Guardian Information: Full name, email address, phone number, billing details, and country/time zone.
- Student Information: Full name, age, grade level, academic records, target competitive exams, diagnostic assessment results, and educational goals.
- Learning Platform Data: LMS login activity, class attendance records, assignment submissions, quiz results, practice test scores, progress reports, tutor feedback, and class recordings.
- Photographs: Student photographs may be collected during enrollment or grade promotion ceremonies for identification and account administration.
- Referral Information: Names and contact details of the referring and referred family, where you take part in our Referral Program.
- Technical Information: IP addresses, browser types, and device metadata collected automatically for platform security and performance.
3. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY & COPPA
Skillzy Young Scholars provides educational services to minors. Protecting children's online privacy is our highest priority.
- Parental Consent: We collect personal information from children under the age of 13 only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Enrollment, demo booking, and account setup for students are completed by the parent or guardian.
- Limited Collection: We collect only the information reasonably needed to deliver classes, assess progress, and run our programs. We do not require a child to provide more information than is necessary to take part in a class.
- No Sale, No Advertising: We do not sell student information, and we do not use student data for commercial profiling or targeted advertising.
- Parental Rights: Parents may review their child's personal information, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and refuse further collection or use of their child's information, at any time by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable time, and no later than 30 days.
4. CLASS RECORDINGS & LEARNING PLATFORMS
Skillzy Young Scholars uses our LMS, Google Workspace, Google Drive, and virtual classroom tools to deliver live instruction. Information shared through these platforms is used solely for educational purposes. To support student review, practice test analysis, quality assurance, and safety, live online classes may be recorded.
- Recordings capture audio, video, chat interactions, and shared instruction materials.
- Access to class recordings and competitive exam prep resources is restricted to enrolled students, parents, and authorized academic staff via our LMS portal.
- Parents acknowledge and consent to class recordings upon enrolling their child.
- Recordings are kept only for as long as needed for these purposes (see Section 9). Parents may request deletion of their child's recordings, subject to Section 9.
5. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use collected data only to:
- Respond to demo booking requests and enquiries, and schedule demo classes.
- Deliver live online classes, competitive exam coaching, and course schedules.
- Develop customized learning plans, diagnostic reports, and contest prep strategies.
- Track attendance, homework completion, practice test scores, and performance growth.
- Generate monthly progress reports and host Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
- Process payments, manage class balances, and administer referral bonus classes.
- Resolve technical support inquiries and platform issues.
- Keep our platform and students safe, and prevent fraud or misuse.
- Comply with legal, regulatory, and financial standards.
We will contact parents about their enrollment, classes, and billing. We will only send marketing messages to parents who have asked to receive them, and every such message will include a way to opt out. We do not send marketing messages to children.
6. PAYMENTS
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers, including Wise. Payment details are entered with the provider and handled under its own security and privacy practices. We do not store full card numbers or banking credentials on our servers. We receive only the information needed to confirm your payment, such as the payer's name, amount, and transaction reference.
7. INFORMATION SHARING
Skillzy Young Scholars does not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share data only where necessary with:
- Assigned tutors, competition coaches, and academic supervisors.
- Service providers who help us run the platform (LMS hosting, website hosting, email, secure cloud storage such as Google Workspace, and virtual classroom tools), who may use the data only to provide services to us.
- Payment providers such as Wise.
- Legal or regulatory authorities when required by law, or to protect the safety of a child.
- A successor organization, if Skillzy Young Scholars is merged or transferred, provided the new owner continues to protect the information under this policy.
Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers when you visit our pages.
8. DATA SECURITY & RETENTION
We use technical and organizational safeguards, including SSL/TLS encryption, access controls, and restricted data permissions, to protect personal information from loss, misuse, or unauthorized access. No online system is completely secure. If a data breach affects your information, we will notify affected parents as required by applicable law.
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above:
- Demo enquiries that do not lead to enrollment: up to 12 months after the last contact.
- Class recordings: up to 12 months after the class date.
- Academic records, attendance, and progress reports: up to 24 months after the student's last class.
- Payment and billing records: as long as required by tax and accounting law.
After these periods, information is deleted or anonymized. Where a parent requests deletion earlier, we will delete the information unless we are required to keep it by law.
9. YOUR RIGHTS
Parents and guardians have the right to:
- Request access to their student's stored academic and performance records.
- Request corrections to inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of student personal data (subject to legal or administrative retention requirements).
- Withdraw consent to further collection or use of their child's information, and opt out of marketing messages.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under your state or local law. Contact us and we will do our best to honor them.
10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows the current version. If we make significant changes to how we handle children's information, we will notify parents by email before the change takes effect.
