About MOEMS

A monthly, team-based problem-solving competition focused on developing mathematical flexibility, strategic thinking, and persistence.

MOEMS Exam Format & Focus

Five monthly contests between November and March. Each test consists of 5 non-routine questions (30 minutes total) testing number theory, pattern recognition, and pre-algebra.

How Skillzy Young Scholars Prepares Students for MOEMS

Skillzy Young Scholars offers step-by-step coaching for common MOEMS question types, teaching students how to systematically unpack word problems and recognize underlying mathematical patterns.

What MOEMS Covers

  • MOEMS-specific format, skill domains and official content outline, adjusted to the student’s eligible level
  • Algebraic patterns, equations and translating word problems into mathematical models
  • Geometry, measurement, diagrams and spatial reasoning
  • Counting, probability, number theory and multi-step logical problem solving

Sample MOEMS Prep Plan

  • Begin with a MOEMS diagnostic and check the current official format, scoring rules and eligible level.
  • Weeks 3–5: learn priority concepts and solve untimed problems with written reasoning.
  • Weeks 6–8: complete mixed sets under realistic time limits and review every missed question.
  • Final phase: practise pacing, revisit an error log and complete a full-length mock when appropriate.

Common MOEMS Mistakes We Help Students Avoid

  • Preparing for MOEMS using a generic or outdated format instead of checking the current official guidance.
  • Using a memorised trick before checking whether it fits the problem.
  • Practising only familiar questions instead of reviewing errors and weak topics.

Every student starts with a diagnostic assessment so we can see exactly where the gaps are. We then build a personalised prep plan, teach the concepts behind each question type, and practise under timed conditions. Every wrong answer is analysed so the same mistake does not repeat. Parents receive monthly progress reports and can see improvement clearly over time.

How early should we start MOEMS prep? β–Ύ
For competitions, we recommend starting 4-6 months before the exam, because the problem-solving skills take time to build.
Is your MOEMS coaching live and online? β–Ύ
Yes. All Skillzy Young Scholars classes are 100% live online, 50 minutes per session, with small batches of at most 4 students (1:1 sessions are also available).
Do you guarantee score improvements? β–Ύ
We cannot guarantee specific scores, but students who follow the prep plan consistently show steady improvement, and parents see progress in monthly reports.
How do we get started with MOEMS prep? β–Ύ
Book a free demo and a 1:1 counselling session. We start with a diagnostic, then build a custom prep plan. No commitment is required.
